                                                                           Srilanka - Land of Buddhas

Srilanka... well not many Indians look at this island nation as a holiday destination mainly cause its very similar to some of our south Indian states wrt vegetation, people etc etc...

Me and a few more friends(Sharath, Nikhil, Amruth, Madhu, Kishore) decided to go there for our year end vacation. We started from Bangalore on the morning of 22nd by Srilankan Airlines flight to Colombo. I do not want to write anything about the Bangalore airport and spark off yet another ranting session:).

The first view of the Srilankan soil was a real special one with the flight landing at the Bandaranayake Airport in Katunayake in the outskirts of Colombo. The run way is very close to the lagoon there and the view during the sea to land transition thru air is awesome.

We met our driver/guide from Rosen travels, Mr. C Kongavardalgi Jagat Janaka aka Janaka with his Nisan Homy a reconditioned utility van, from here began our most comfortable trip to date.

On a voyage to SriLanka

  • Dec. 13th, 2005 at 9:47 AM

Me off to SriLanka tommorow and back on 22nd.. so taking a small break from Lj!

Finally everything is set and we are going to SriLanka for a year end holiday. Its very special cause its the first overseas year end holiday. This is gonna be my fourth consecutive year end trip( Kashmir, Lakshadweep, North east) and hope its gonna be as good as the other three if not better.

This year has been a happening one for me. Really fast moving and cant still believe its been a year since my north east trip.

More on this Srilankan Adventure in Nikhil's writeup and my previous entry.

After much planning and more planning our year end trip to SriLanka is becoming a reality:)

The planning started last year while we were in the middle of our NE trip, to be exact while returning from Shillong to Guwahati. The initial plan was to head to one of Rajasthan, Malaysia, Egypt( though this was the first one voted out) and SriLanka. After some discussions which involved lots of people finally 6 of us are going to SriLanka. We have decided to take the heritage and adventure package from Mangalan travels and plan to visit Colombo, Pollanawara, Dambulla, Kandy, Hikkaduwa, Galle etc etc...

Hopefully the trip will live upto the year end trip fame;)

Dates : 14th-22nd
People : Nikki Madhu Sharath Amruth Kicchi and I
